Giving to the College
|
The College of Social and Behavioral Sciences prepares students to understand how people shape
society and how they are shaped by society and culture. The college has a strong tradition in providing
access to an excellent education through high quality instruction from world class scholars in an intimate
classroom setting. Graduates from our program come here for an excellent education and can go anywhere
to make a positive impact in the world. |
Donating to the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences is making an investment in the future. A wide range of giving opportunities are available:
President's Academic Excellence Scholars, General Scholarships and Graduate Fellowships
Our desire to attract and effectively educate top students is a priority funding need. President's Academic Excellence Scholars are recruited from the top 1% of high school graduates in San Bernardino County. Students enter as freshmen and receive $5,000 per year for 4 years if they maintain eligibility. Additional endowed scholarships are needed annually to continue to support deserving students over time. Donations can go towards scholarships, graduate fellowships, and awards for outstanding achievements. You may also support our general scholarship fund by making a cash gift or you may purchase a brick in our brick courtyard.
Centers, Institutes and Research Areas
These program areas build a bridge between the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences and the Community at large. Support for these programs broaden the reach of our community connection and facilitate our community engagement.

- California Council on Economic Education
- Center for Criminal Justice Research

- Community University Initiative for the Development of Attention and Readiness (CUIDAR-SB)

Faculty Support
We need to continue to attract and retain the brightest and most productive faculty. We must keep our existing talent from being lured to other universities by offering competitive salaries and maintaining high-ranking departments.
Capital Projects and Building Projects
To meet our growth in units, faculty and students, the College needs modern laboratory and classroom space. Private support opportunities are available to donors at many levels and include naming opportunities for buildings, classrooms, laboratories and public spaces.
Endowments
An endowment is a permanent fund in which the principal is invested and only the annual interest income is used to support the endowment purpose. Endowments can be used to fund endowed professorships, a chair, lectureships, scholarship, etc.
Undesignated Gifts
The Dean's Fund for Continued Excellence allows the Dean the discretion to direct funds to worthy projects at critical times.
Creating a Gift
There are many ways to provide a gift to the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences. The College can accept a variety of types of gifts, from cash, property, appreciated securities or charitable trusts. With all of the exciting educational support and research activities in the college there is sure to be a project that speaks to your heart.
