Antivirus

Please note that as of July 2007 we will no longer be supporting the E-Trust Anti-virus. We now Eploy the Symantic Enterprise System Center Soultion with Anti-spyware, Anti-virus and firewall.

We chose to abondon E-Trust for the following reasons:

1. It Crashes when using office programs such Office 2003 installers.
2. It reporting options are very limited therefore; we cannot determine which PC’s have updates or viruses on them.
3. Each PC had to be manually worked on every time to configure Etrust to detect and remove viruses.

We chose the Symatnic Enterprise Solution for the following reasons:

1. Symantec does not crash programs such as Office 2003.
2. Symantec does not crash during upgrades.
3. System center allows up to push anti-virus updates to all PC’s in the college.
4. Symantec AV does not have problems when upgrading to newer versions of software.
5. All PC’s are managed (updated, modified, and threats removed) using the semantic enterprise server saving a huge amount of manpower.
6. System Center has an extensive reporting system.
