The Infant Toddler Lab school was created in March of 2005 and currently serves children age 3 months to 36 months of age. The hours of operation are Monday-Thursday 7:30am-5:30pm and Fridays from 7:30am-5:00pm. There are three classrooms in the Lab School.
The infant room offers a warm and nurturing environment for infants from three months to around 12 months of age. Through positive and nurturing interactions with teachers, infants are able to develop a sense of safety and well-being, which enables them to feel secure and to explore their world. Much of the day for infants revolves around their individual schedules while activities are periodically offered. Soft areas, gross motor areas, books, music, and sensory activities are just some of the wonderful opportunities that are provided in this room. There are separate areas for sleeping, diapering, and feeding. The adult child ratio in this room is 1:3.
The toddler room offers a rich learning environment for children from around 12 months to around 24 months of age as they make the transition from infants to active and independent toddlers. This classroom follows a flexible daily routine and provides the children with plenty of opportunities to actively explore a variety of activities while facilitating the children’s development in all areas. The adult child ratio in this room is 1:4.
The two-year-old classroom offers a variety of experiences for children from around 24 months to 36 months of age. This classroom follows a consistent daily routine and the schedule is designed to balance structure and free choice, active and quiet times. This classroom includes learning centers for pretend play, art, discovery/science, books/reading, sensory activities, gross motor activities, and manipulative toys that encourage fine motor development. The adult child ratio for this classroom is 1:6.
The infants and toddlers have an outdoor classroom that is used daily. The outdoor equipment and activity spaces are appropriate to both infant and toddlers' developmental needs. Many activities that are done indoors can also be done outdoors, and this provides the children with fresh air and a larger open area for play and vigorous physical activity. The infants and toddlers also go on daily walks around campus in buggies.
Enrollment Policy
Applications come out and are due each semester. Basically this is how it will work:
- Returning families have 1st priority (whether they are CCAMPIS or not).
- New applicants have 2nd priority.
