Any enrolled student at CSUSB is eligible to join the MUN and/or MAL teams. The only requirement to be eligible to join the MUN team and/or MAL team is to complete an online application. There are two CSUSB MUN teams each year, one that prepares and competes in the Fall term and one that prepares and competes in the Winter/Spring terms.
CSUSB COYOTE MUN FALL TEAM
For students interested in participating in the Fall MUN Program, the application can be found by here. In addition to the application, all potential MUN and MAL team members are required to take the MUN/MAL entrance exam. For the 2017-18 AY, the CSUSB Coyote MUN Fall team will participate in the 2017 NMUN-Canada Conference to be held in Banff National Park, Canada (19-25 November 2017).
Online applications for the 2017 CSUSB MUN Fall team is due no later than 6 PM on Friday, June 9. Applications completed after that time and date will not be accepted. All applicants for the Fall MUN team also are required to complete CSUSB MUN/MAL Entrance Exam. The 50-question multiple-choice exam is similar to the U.S. State Department Foreign Service Officer Exam. It covers the following areas: English expression, international political economics, international law, international environmental law and issues, human and physical geography, international affairs/geopolitics, international governance/organizations and global current events. To study for the exam, students should take a look at a previous exam that can be found here.
Following the completion of the application and entrance exam, a selection of those applying will be asked to a 15 minute interview with Professor Grisham, the current Program Assistant(s) and an alumni of the CSUSB Coyote MUN Program. Those selected for the interview phase have the highest test score and application score.
Following the interview stage, the final team will be selected and invitations to join the Fall team and the CSUSB MUN/MAL Program will be sent to those students who are selected by Professor Grisham. All students participating in the CSUSB MUN Fall team are required to enroll in the SSCI 515 (Model UN) course.
CSUSB COYOTE MUN WINTER/SPRING TEAM
The process for beinbg selected for the Winter/Spring team is the same as being selected for the Fall team. The application for that team will open at the beginning of the Fall Quarter. More details concerning dates and times of the exam and due date of the application will be updated on this website by the beginning of the Fall term.
Those selected for the Winter/Spring team will have to enroll in GEOG 390 during the Winter term. Those selected for this team will represent CSUSB at the 2018 NMUN-NY Conference held in New York City.
