INTERNSHIP TITLE: IEC Marketing Specialist Intern 

LOCATION: CSUSB

WAGE/SALARY: Stipend; students must enroll in an internship course for credit

HOURS: Flexible; 10-20 hours/week

JOB SUMMARY: This position will report to the Office of Institutional Equity and Compliance (IEC), within the Human Resources Division. The IEC is responsible for ensuring compliance with the CSU Nondiscrimination Policy, which prohibits Discrimination, Harassment, Sexual Misconduct, Sexual Exploitation, Dating Violence, Domestic Violence, Stalking, and Retaliation.  The IEC also develops and disseminates educational materials, publications and in-service training designed for faculty, staff and students relating to the CSU Nondiscrimination Policy. The primary purpose of the job is to assist the IEC in developing marketing and communication of programing related to prevention, education, and outreach through various social media platforms and/or on campus marketing platforms. The Student Intern will receive general directions from the Prevention, Outreach, and Education Manager or Associate Director/Executive Director.

POSITION DESCRIPTION: 

  • Help identify key marketing audiences for the campus community, which may require marketing research.
  • Research  uniquely recognizable slogans and/or logos for IEC.
  • Assist in the development of enhancing the existing web site to engage audiences and develop effective communication for the campus community for IEC.
  • Assist in developing social media presence.
  • Develop marketing materials in multiple media platforms.
  • May be responsible for the organizing and tracking of traffic data on social media and prepare metrics on return of investment for any marketing campaign/posting.
  • Will work with and under the supervision of the Prevention, Outreach, and Education Manager or Associate Director/Executive Director.
  • May on occasion serve as a point of contact for the two IEC reception areas.
  • Maintain files (creating, updating and organizing).
  • Assist with clerical functions for the IEC (i.e. file paperwork, maintain an organized working environment, make deliveries around campus, etc.).
  • May assist with IEC programming, outreach, and other events.
  • Student Interns will perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Current Administration student, Marketing Concentration, or MBA - Marketing student. 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of proprietary information developed through the internship
  • Access to a computer with internet and ability to use MS Office and graphics software
  • Students must be enrolled in 6 units (UG); 3 units (Grad); international students must have full-time enrollment

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or above
  • Ability to work independently
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Flexible team player, willing to adapt to changes
  • Comfortable working in virtual and in-person business environments
