Research and Teaching Interests

My laboratory is generally focused on better understanding the neural mechanisms governing the ability to learn and behaviorally adapt to changing environmental conditions. More recently we have concentrated on unraveling what altered neural circuitry is responsible for the behavioral inflexibility present in neuropsychiatric disorders such as autism and schizophrenia utilizing rodent models. These studies highlight how changes in serotonin function may be responsible for the symptoms we find in these psychiatric disorders.
