Research and Teaching Interests

Stephanie Muravchik is an Associate Fellow at the Institute for Advanced Studies in Culture at the University of Virginia. She received her PhD in American history from Virginia and was previously a fellow at the Miller Center of Public Affairs. Her scholarship explores the intersections of politics with class, religion, and family life. Her first book was American Protestantism in an Age of Psychology (Cambridge University Press, 2011). The Journal of Church and State recently published her co-authored article, 'How Catholics and Jews Remade American Politics.' Her co-authored book on the politics and history of Democratic communities that swung for Trump in the 2016 election will be published in the summer of 2020.
